Episode 662 - Accepting Who You Are
I first started playing basketball in the tenth grade. It was 1985 and in 1986 I witnessed Spudd Webb, who was listed as 5'7". He was short like me and could dunk!
I wanted to dunk so bad.
In my senior year, I stacked velcro pads on each other and launched myself off them to slam the ball through the hoop.
Was that a real dunk? Yeah, kind of, however I couldn't do it without the stacked pads. In the back of my mind I knew that it wasn't a real dunk - even though I slammed the ball through the hoop.
This can apply to life too. Where we want to do something or be someone and it's impossible because of the situation we are in. We want it so bad that we manufacture ways to make it our "reality." When in reality, it's fake.
