The late John Stott said, “pride is your enemy, humility is your greatest friend.” Let’s look at the definition for both PRIDE and HUMILITY.

PRIDE: a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements

HUMILITY: a modest or low view of one's own importance; humbleness.

Like kindness, humility isn’t weak. In fact, you must have an incredible amount of strength to be humble. 

Regardless of where we are at in our personal, professional, or spiritual journey, we can always grow. Having a modest or low view of our own importance will push us to continue growing. The moment we start feeling deep pleasure or satisfaction about our own achievements we are in danger of not growing.

So, when you accomplish something, be proud of your work yet only for a moment. Then get back to what will take you to the highest of heights in this journey called life: humility.
