The book is about a postal worker named Fred who impacted Mark’s life through kindness. Mark then writes about how we can identify Fred’s in our life, become a Fred to others, and develop Fred’s. He used the name Fred to prove his point:
F – Find
R – Reward
E – Educate
D – Demonstrate

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 813 of the Final Season: Inspire Through the Ordinary#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #inspiration
This is the first episode referencing the incredible book, The Fred Factor by Mark Sanborn. He writes about the power of inspiration through storytelling. If there is one bit of love language that I have its inspiring others through storytelling.
What I like from Mark is how important it is to keep things simple and ordinary.

In the book, Changing Direction, Mary Miller writes something profound that I had to share. I don’t know if it’s from her directly or if she received it from someone else. She wrote, success is simple:
Do what you say
Finish what you start
Show up on time
Say please, thank you and you’re welcome

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 811 of the Final Season: Look the Part#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #presentation
In my leadership development coaching sessions, I like to point out the incredible value of losing weight. It’s one of the few things in life that a single act can inspire the person losing weight and others.
Consider the passive-aggressive world we live in. “Can’t offend anyone, so I’ll just keep to myself.” Right? That’s how we as a society live it feels like. Yet when someone loses significant weight, people aren’t afraid to say, “wow you look great! How much weight have you lost?”
Hmmm, did they think they didn’t look great prior to losing weight? Doesn’t matter, no one thinks that they just compliment the person who has lost the weight. I love it because it is a non-verbal way to show growth.
What’s another non-verbal way to show growth? Dress. To. Impress. It’s time we in the business world, especially entrepreneurs, look the part.

They Aren’t Getting It!

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 809 of the Final Season: They Aren’t Getting It #knowTroy #DWUpodcast #storytelling
Often in my leadership development sessions, the person I’m talking to will say, “I told them! They aren’t getting it.”
The reason I titled my book, You Got It was to highlight the importance of understanding something as opposed to just learning something.
When someone doesn’t “get it” they are not likely going to reveal to you that they don’t get it. Especially when you are in leadership. In leadership, your followers might nod their head in agreement and not have any idea what you want them to do.

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 808 of the Final Season: Let’s Talk About Sex #knowTroy #DWUpodcast #abstinence
I was married at the age of 29 and I was a virgin. My wife was also a virgin. Both of us are proud to say we were virgins by choice.
In an article written for The Well Clinic blog in 2020, reads: The idea that “practice makes perfect” regarding sexual intimacy is backwards. Researchers found that those who wait to have sex until marriage, compared to those who don’t, report significantly higher relationship satisfaction (20%), better communication patterns (12%), less consideration of divorce (22%), and better sexual quality (15%).
If you aren’t married and have already had sex, simply stop now, and wait. You’ll be grateful you did.
