We Are a Team (not Family)

The Daily Wake Up Micro-Podcast Episode 794 of The Final Season: We are a Team (not Family) #knowTroy #DWUpodcast #team #family
How many of you work for a company that feels like a family? I read an interesting thought recently from a book that described the difference of a team mentality instead of a family mentality (sorry – forgot which book).
When you work for a company, you are employed under the premise that you are going to accomplish certain tasks in exchange for financial compensation. At any time, you could quit or they could fire you. You won’t “quit” on a family (well, you aren’t supposed to) and a family won’t fire you. Because you are family. A family is defined as a group of one or more parents and their children living as a unit.
A team, on the other hand, is different from a family.

The Daily Wake Up Micro-Podcast Episode 793 of The Final Season: The Millionaire Mindset#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #mindset
I read a book last year titled, Change Your Mindset, by Cassandra Gaisford. We talked about having a “they can’t guard me” mindset yesterday and Cassandra describes a “millionaire mindset” in her book. She writes, When it comes down to it, success flows from the habits, attitudes and behaviors you use every day that move you, step-by-step, towards millionaire status. And yes, sometimes even the rich go belly up, but something they never lose is their millionaire mindset.”

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 792 of The Final Season: They Can’t Guard Me Mindset#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #mindset
What area in your life do you look at an inferior opponent and play to the best of your ability? You may think you play better because of the lack of resistance from the opponent where I would say it’s not the lack of resistance from the opponent as much as it is your mindset. Your mindset of “they can’t guard me” is more powerful than the lack of skills from the opponent. Believe in yourself and make a commitment to the “they can’t guard me” mindset.

2021 Book Review #1- Bait of Satan

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 791 of the Final Season: 2021 Book Review #1 - Bait of Satan#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #read #offense
The Bait of Satan was written by John Bevere and was hands down the best book I read in 2021. The way that I determine best for me is how much the book impacted my life and caused me to change my way of thinking or behaving.
As someone who was raised in the church, I’ve witnessed first-hand the power of offense. Church goers would get offended by the littlest of things and it didn’t matter if the pastor intended to offend. This book lays out how important of a tool, in the devil’s tool kit, the power of offense is. The devil uses it all the time.
Being offended is like carrying a debt that only forgiveness can bring.

2021 Book Review #2 - Holy Bible

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 790 of the Final Season: 2021 Book Review #2 - Holy Bible#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #read #bible
For the first time, in a long time, I read the Holy Bible from start to finish. I had forgotten how great the stories are in the Old Testament. Stories of a young human species finding their way through decisions made by those who served the one true God and those who didn’t.
Regardless of whether or not you are religious or believe in God, check out the Holy Bible and start reading from Genesis 1. You will not be disappointed.

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 789 of the Final Season: 2021 Book Review #3 - Originals#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #read #leaders
The third best book read of 2021 was “Originals” and it was written by Adam Grant. I did a podcast last year about the study of employees who download Chrome or Firefox browsers. This book is filled with many stories and studies of what type of person an original is.
Originals don’t accept the default. He writes, the hallmark of originality is rejecting the default and exploring whether a better option exists.
This can be frustrating for some leaders, however the leaders who embrace this from their followers, or even encourage it, can come across some very creative findings.
When it comes to idea generation, quantity is the most predictable path to quality. Original thinkers come up with many ideas that are strange mutations, dead ends, and utter failures.
Still – let them do that because that’s their path to fantastic ideas.

2021 Book Review #4 - HeadTrash

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 788 of the Final Season: HeadTrash#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #read #personaldevelopment
The fourth best book read in 2021 was HeadTrash by Tish Squillaro and Timothy Thomas. This book was awesome, and they describe what the book is about so perfectly in the subtitle: Cleaning Out the Junk that Stands Between You and Success. It is a leadership book as opposed to a professional development book.
The authors describe Headtrash as a negative voice of your subconscious engaging you in a deadly inner dialogue that only you hear that affects everything you say or do.
There are seven forms of HeadTrash:
Fear
Arrogance
Insecurity
Control
Anger
Guilt
Paranoia
