What Can You Do With Zero Prep?

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 747 - What Can You Do With Zero Prep?#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #expert
As I was getting ready yesterday, I received a reminder that my speaking session was about to start. "Uh oh," I thought to myself as I ran to my computer to log in. I had completely forgotten about speaking to the 7th grade class at a local middle school here in Las Vegas. My computer loaded right at 9:00 AM and I was there to say good morning to the students.
There was zero prep for my talk yesterday, however, because I've done my speech so many times it went perfectly. What can you do with zero prep? It is most likely something that you are already good at. Things you can do without prep is an indication of what your future may hold as a side-hustle or career path. It's a hint to how you were designed by our Creator.
Got it? Yeah, you got it, now go get it!

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 746 - Smile in the Midst of Conflict#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #referee #youthsports
I was the white hat referee last Saturday and had my first heckler. This guy heckled me the entire game. Mocking me with zingers; some of which were rather funny. Since I was in the middle of the football field, I did what all professional athletes do when getting heckled, I watched him. It was fascinating to see how he responded with me looking at him.
One of his zingers got me to laugh and he saw my smile. He shouted, "yeah, you keep smiling ref. You suck!" Well, I did keep smiling and he kept heckling.
The next time you have a heckler or bully in your life that won't stop heckling you, try smiling. If their zingers are funny, laugh. Maybe even compliment their shirt (genuine compliment of course). When you smile, you are responding in a way the heckler isn't expecting. And that's just marvelous.

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 745 - Personal Purpose Statement Exercise#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #purposestatement
Yesterday we talked about creating a personal purpose statement. Something that defines your purpose in life. Some of you may not know how to do that. Here is an exercise you can do to help create a personal purpose statement by answering three times to each of these questions.
What do I want to feel?
What do I want to do?
What do I want to own?
What do I want to contribute?

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 744 - Personal Purpose Statement#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #purpose
Normally when you think of purpose statements you connect it with a business or having to do with a presentation. When I searched online for a definition, the common one read: A purpose statement is a declarative sentence which summarizes the specific topic and goals of the document.
What about a personal purpose statement; a statement that describes you? Do you have one? If not write out a declarative sentence or statement that summarizes your specific goals of your life. Can you write one out that is about others?
I'll share mine so you can use it as an example. My purpose statement is to provoke thought, inspire hope, and ignite a fire in you my listening audience.
Now it's your turn!

Is Confidence the Same as Self-Esteem?

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 743 – Is Confidence the Same as Self-Esteem?#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #selfmastery
Last week I read a really good book on leadership titled, The High Achiever’s Guide to Happiness by Vance & Carol Ann Caesar. In it they describe how high achievers find happiness. One thing I especially liked was how they describe the difference between confidence and self-esteem. I may not be confident in running a business, however my self-esteem as a leader is high.
What I want you to think about is your overall self-esteem. The definition of self-esteem is confidence in one’s own worth or abilities, self-respect.
Remember that this episode is about the difference of confidence and self-esteem. Yet, self-esteem is being confident in you. You can be confident in you and not confident in other specific areas of your life. The point is to be confident in the specific person of you.
How do you feel about yourself? Tomorrow we are going to talk about establishing a purpose statement for you and your personal life. On Wednesday, we will give you ways to create your purpose statement. You can lack confidence and still have a high level of self-esteem.

How to Respond to The But Guy

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 742 - How to Respond to The But Guy#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #butguy #activelistening
Yesterday, I encouraged you to not be the But Guy. Today, I wanted to share with you how to respond to The But Guy. First off, don't try to combat them or disagree with them on their point. When they respond with, "but" or "actually" hear them out. Practice active listening and show them you are listening with your body language. Respond with kindness and appreciation that they were comfortable enough to give their view. Assume they are struggling with negative thoughts or going through some hard times which will help you show empathy. The only time I tell people to leave a friendship is when it's toxic. Toxic friendships are ones that suck all the joy from you and you don't feel good about yourself when you are with them.

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 741 - The But Guy#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #butguy #activelistening
Have you had a good idea only to have someone respond to your idea with "but" as the first word of their sentence? Don't be The But Guy (or gal) that responds with a contrary view so quickly. Remember Oscar from the sitcom, The Office? He would respond to conversations with "actually" then proceeding to educate everyone else on how they were wrong.
When others share something with you like an idea, really listen to what they are saying. Hear every part of their thought and even if it's a ridiculous idea, don't be a but guy and make them feel ridiculous.

The Daily Wake Up Micro-Podcast Episode 740 - Mr. Big Stuff #knowTroy #DWUpodcast #selfworth #entrepreneur
Mr. Big Stuff, who do you think you are? Living the life of an entrepreneur is one that requires knowing as many people as you can in growing your business or side-hustle(s). For me, I'm still living the life of an entrepreneur because I haven't found a W2 employee position that will allow me to provide for my family the way I used to. So I'm living in the "in-between" which means I need to meet, mingle, and network with as many people as I can.
Sometimes I'll meet a Mr. Big Stuff. I like meeting Mr. Big Stuff's because it shows me they have accomplished things in life I'd like to accomplish. What has happened though is they don't consider me their equal. Why would they? They don't know me or my abilities. Instead of taking offense to this behavior, I've learned to be patient because I know they will eventually know who I am (#knowTroy) and when they come back to me for collaboration, I'll be ready.
Give Mr. Big Stuff the benefit of the doubt and be ready when they call upon you.

The Daily Wake Up Micro-PodcastEpisode 739 - People of Integrity#knowTroy #DWUpodcast #AaronRodgers
When asked if he was vaccinated, Aaron Rodgers said, "yes, I am immunized." By saying, "yes," Aaron Rodgers confirmed that he was indeed vaccinated when he wasn't. Reports have revealed that he is upset that people are so upset when he said he was immunized. It feels like he thinks he didn't lie. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and acknowledge it wasn't technically a lie. Even if it wasn't a lie, it was still meant to deceive his audience into thinking he was the same as those who were vaccinated. I'm not pro vaccine, I'm not anti-vaccine, what we can all learn from this though is to be people of integrity. So many of us will not technically lie however our intention is to mislead which has the same result. When you live with integrity, you can avoid a lot of the unfair criticism that Aaron Rodgers is receiving right now.
