The Daily Wake Up Micro Podcast Episode 638 - Be Like Tom Brady
Yeah, I said it, be like Tom Brady. Just to be clear, I'm not a fan of Tom Brady. I know some of the smack talking he does during the game and his constant complaining to the officials can drive me batty.
What I mean by let's all be like Tom Brady is the way he meets new people. You see Tom Brady introduces himself to everyone he meets. "Hi, I'm Tom" or Hi, I'm Tom Brady."
This is a great example to follow in that no matter how famous you may become, always remember that there is no one greater than you and you are greater than no one.

Bring that Energy!
Friday Jun 18, 2021
Friday Jun 18, 2021
Happy Friday everyone! Episode 637 here - listen up to the best four minutes of your day. :)
I've heard from people, "man, Troy, you bring the energy. I wish I could do that."
Hold up . . . you can do that.
Think about when you are alone and receive some great news. News that gives you a tremendous amount of joy. Do you do a little dance? Do you "WAHOO" like a professional wrestler? Do you pump your fist in the air, or jump high? That's the energy I'm talking about.
When you reveal this side of yourself to others, you will inspire them and actually make them feel better about themselves. How do I know this? It happens over and over for me.
The joyful energy you reveal with others could change their life for the day. With the #mentalhealth crisis we are in why wouldn't you want to do that?

You Gotsa K-N-O-W Money
Thursday Jun 17, 2021
Thursday Jun 17, 2021
One of the key points in my speech, Cheat Codes 2 Life, that I speak to high schoolers on is Cheat Code #3, K-N-O-W Money. I especially like what Brian Dixon writes on the subject of money in his book, Start With Your People. He shares with us the three truths about money.
Truth number 1 - Money is a tool
Truth number 2 - Money is essential for life
Truth number 3 - Money influences our emotions
Does money buy us happiness? Heck no! If you are unhappy without money, you'll be unhappy with money. Money has nothing to do with.

How to Start a Mastermind Group
Wednesday Jun 16, 2021
Wednesday Jun 16, 2021
Many of us have heard about the value and importance of attending a mastermind group yet don't know how. Brian Dixon provides insight into how to start a mastermind group in his book, Start With Your People.
Here is the format he created and follows:
Share your wins (3 min each)
Share where you're struggling or one area in which you need help (3-5 min each)
Put someone on the hot seat - one member shares a problem in their life or business and asks for feedback and encouragement from the other mastermind members (20-40 min)
Share goals for the next meeting (2-3 min each)
Who's ready to get started?

Do Players Respond to Criticism?
Tuesday Jun 15, 2021
Tuesday Jun 15, 2021
Last night the Atlanta Hawks beat the Philadelphia 76ers 103-100 and the head coach of the 76ers, Doc Rivers, blasted the team for not being as tough as the Atlanta Hawks. Rivers said, “We stopped passing. I thought we started the game off [not passing] that way. Then we got back to the ball movement, then we went back to hero basketball, basically, everybody wanted to be the hero instead of just trusting the team, trusting each other. When you do that, you usually lose. Especially when the other team outworks you the whole [expletive] game, and that’s what they did today."
He continued to blast his own team, “Give the Hawks credit,” said Rivers. “I thought they hit, I thought they knocked us around the floor, I thought Collins was the toughest man on the floor, all night. You’re going to see everybody else’s numbers, but I thought Collins was the guy. Just hitting the glass all night and keeping things alive. I just thought they were the more physical, tougher team, and it wasn’t close.”
The last time a professional coach from the great state of Pennsylvania blasted his team they had just won their 11th game in a row. Yes, 11th game in a row. The Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL were 11-0 yet after getting blasted by the coach they lost the next five out of six games including a playoff game.
Professional athletes know where their mistakes are. Professional humans also know where their mistakes are. So does this method of coaching still work with adults? It didn't for the Pittsburgh Steelers. We'll see if it works for the Philadelphia 76ers (I sure hope not).

Do Your Emojis Match Your Emotions?
Sunday Jun 13, 2021
Sunday Jun 13, 2021
In an article written by Courtney Seiter titled, The Psychology of Emojis, she wrote:
Scientists have discovered that when we look at a smiley face online, the same parts of the brain are activated as when we look at a real human face. Our mood changes, and we might even alter our facial expressions to match the emotion of the emoticon.
The article was written in 2015 where she referenced a Swyft Media report that 74 percent of people in the US regularly use emojis in their communication. If those were the numbers in 2015, I wonder what the numbers are now?
As much as I love emojis, what I've discovered is many of us use an emoji that doesn't match our real-life emotion. Since scientists have discovered a smiley face can activate parts of our real brain, why aren't we laughing out loud as we send a laughing out loud emoji?

When a Curveball Grows to a Snowball
Friday Jun 11, 2021
Friday Jun 11, 2021
If you are like me you've read most of the self-help books and you are intentional about staying positive on a daily basis. What do you do though when the first thing that happens after waking up in the morning is a curveball. Then another curveball. Until you finally realize it isn't a curveball of unfortunate events it's a snowball.
For me, I focus on my crutch. Something that is bigger than myself and who can take on my burdens, fears, and doubts.
What's it for you?

You'll Eventually Find It

The Daily Wake Up Micro Podcast - Episode 631
Have you heard someone say, "I wasn't looking, it just happened." Often times this is shared when leaving something or someone. It could be one spouse leaving another or someone leaving a job.
Sorry to bring facts to a good story, actually, I'm not sorry, the facts are you won't find something unless you are looking for it. Just because you didn't know you were looking for something, doesn't mean you weren't.
We are in the midst of an identity crisis all over the world. Could the reason be social media? That's my guess. Either way, lack of identity and knowing who you truly are means you may not know what you are looking for.

Joy is Greater than Passion
Wednesday Jun 09, 2021
Wednesday Jun 09, 2021
Yesterday as I drove away from a video shoot I started laughing. Who would have thought that 14 months of unemployment would bring me so much joy. Why? Because I'm not doing what I'm "passionate" about, I'm doing what gives me joy.
The root word to passion is "pati" which means suffering, or enduring. The origin of the word comes from the sufferings of Christ on the cross. Here's the deal. He already suffered and died on the cross why would I want to do the same.
How does someone, who's been unemployed for more than a year, find joy in life? By doing what I was created and designed to do. It's such an incredible feeling when you are fulfilled by doing activities in your life that bring you joy.
Credit cards haven't been paid in a year, credit score is who knows how low . . . and none of it matters.
You can find that type of joy as well if you look for it. Being passionate about something is overrated. Trade your suffering for joy.

Hero or the Villain
Tuesday Jun 08, 2021
Tuesday Jun 08, 2021
Which do you choose?
Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks professional basketball team embraces the role of the villain when playing on the opposing team's court. He's shorter and smaller than most of the NBA players yet also quick and accurate when shooting. That's all fine and good until he turns to the crowd and winks or bows.
Villains like to put on a show, attract the attention of large audiences because, maybe, just maybe, it's due to how they were treated.
What say you? When the odds are against you do you resonate more with the Hero or Villain?
