Rules Enable Freedom
Monday Mar 15, 2021
Monday Mar 15, 2021
I was a little off yesterday and today didn’t start the right way either. Could it be Daylight Savings? Maybe. Either way, having a routine helps me be free I’m the midst of being off. Without a structured routine, the game of life isn’t fun. Kind of like playing a game where the referee doesn’t know the rules.

It's Better to Obey than Sacrifice
Friday Mar 12, 2021
Friday Mar 12, 2021
I'm doing more speeches to students in the public school systems and this week I got my hand slapped. I personally don't feel what I said was inappropriate or controversial yet it's not my class and for that I apologized to the teacher. In fact, on any future speech to schools participating in our community program, PAYBAC, I'll refrain from stating those things as well.
Is this a violation of my principles? Absolutely not. Because the most important thing for me to do is speak life into Gen Z students who need it the most.
By adapting my speech to accommodate a request is showing honor and respect for which the teacher has earned. The next time you get butt-hurt when someone gives you constructive feedback, take a chill pill and remember it's better to obey than sacrifice.

Speech is Not Violence
Thursday Mar 11, 2021
Thursday Mar 11, 2021
The definition of speech is the expression of or the ability to express thoughts and feelings by articulate sounds.
The definition of violence is behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something.
There seems to be a growing movement or thought that speech is violent when in reality, speech is articulating sounds and doesn't involve a physical force.
If we as a culture of different opinions, cannot share our thoughts without fear of someone retaliating with violence (because they feel the speech is violent) we will no longer be civilized. I don't know about you, but for me, what I've read and know about that time in history, I'm not ready to head back to the dark ages.

It's Never the Right Time
Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
Making sales calls to schools about speaking life to their students can be challenging when you have a head cold (all I want to do is take a nap). Schools talking about doing an all-school virtual assembly as they open up can be challenging as well.
Is it the right time to be making sales calls with a head cold? No.
Is it the right time to coordinate an all-school virtual assembly with all the chaos of coming back on campus? No.
Is there ever a right time to do anything? No.
Do it anyway.

Yes, You Can Change Overnight
Tuesday Mar 09, 2021
Tuesday Mar 09, 2021
Many years ago, I wrote a play titled "I Forgive You." It was a powerful story of a girl having to forgive her abusive father before being allowed into Heaven. One of my friends said it wasn't realistic and that forgiveness is a process that takes time. It wasn't possible to change overnight by forgiving someone who had hurt you so terribly.
Others believe to change a bad habit it's a process and takes time as well. How then, do some women who smoke suddenly stop when they find out they are pregnant? With no withdrawals or urges to light up another cigarette.
Twenty eight years ago, I had a conversation with my girlfriend who was breaking up with me. In the midst of her tears, I asked, "why are you crying?"
"Because I don't want to break up with you." She said.
"Ok, so don't." I replied back.
"But I have too." she said.
"Then why are you crying?" I asked again.
When you realize what you have to change, why you have to change, and the value in making the change, just change. You'll be surprised how effective your overnight change will be.

You Are An Exceptional Leader
Friday Mar 05, 2021
Friday Mar 05, 2021
I'm Spittn Fire to you leaders that listen to the 4 AM Daily Wake Up Podcast. It's time you embrace yourself as someone who is an exceptional leader. Often times in today's leadership style when a curve ball happens or when a decision needs to be made there, the leader is asking their followers what they need to do in addressing the curve ball.
The reasoning some leaders may give is, "I want to make sure my team is included in making the decision."
Are you sure it's not about you, as a leader, making the wrong decision, and receiving backlash because the pressure is so high?
Trust your instincts as a leader and make a decision. If you are going to strike out from the curve ball at least strike out swinging. If your decision is an awful one, trust that your team will point it out.
Bottom line: LEAD

It’s Okay to Use Cliches
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
When writing my book there were experts in the field who would teach young writers to not use cliches. I’m here to tell you it’s okay to use cliches. As long as it flows naturally with what you are trying to say, cliches can engage your audience in a positive way. (How’s that for rhyming)?

Winners ARE born
Wednesday Mar 03, 2021
Wednesday Mar 03, 2021
There’s this notion that winners aren’t born they are made. That is literally a false statement. Every living person has won the most competitive race of them all. They won the sperm race.

The Only Scoreboard That Counts is Yours
Tuesday Mar 02, 2021
Tuesday Mar 02, 2021
As I wrote in my book, You Got It; Now Go Get It!, you need to "ignore the score." This is true related to an external scoreboard. In other words, people, jobs, teachers, and family who seem to keep score on what you have is external. Ignore their score. The internal score is of significant importance especially as it relates to multiplication.
Multiplication is when you share the giftings, talents, and skills you have to others. So much so that they begin to utilize their giftings, talents, and skills for the benefit of others and the pay it forward continues.
Even though we know perfection will never be attained, we must strive to become perfect in who we are for the benefit of others.
