The Incredibly Positive Miss Caruso
Monday Jul 06, 2020
Monday Jul 06, 2020
One of my guests last week on the Always Go Big Interview Podcast was an individual stricken with the incredibly rare disease “Fibroidodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva," FOP for short.
Here’s a description from IFOPA.org:
Malformation of the great toes
One of the rarest, most disabling genetic conditions known to medicine, FOP causes bone to form in muscles, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissues. Bridges of extra bone develop across joints, progressively restricting movement and forming a second skeleton that imprisons the body in bone. There are no other known examples in medicine of one normal organ system turning into another.
Ever since she was five years old, Theresa "Tisa" Caruso, has dealt with the effects of FOP, yet she still believes she will be healed and able to walk again. When I asked her how she overcomes negative thoughts on a daily basis, her response shocked me since it was unlike any response from a previous guest I've had. "I don't really have negative thoughts," she said. She went on to share how her faith in God and Jesus Christ, along with protecting her mind keeps her positive.
Incredible!
As he we start the week, let's follow Tisa's example and not feel sorry about ourselves, focusing on the good things in our life as me move forward in our journey.

This little cold (not COVID) that I have/had, has been lingering so I wake up naturally. AFTER 4am! 😳 Its been a pleasant reminder that whatever you do you have to stay diligent, focused, and intentional in realizing this is what you do.

Ten Benefits to Reading Twenty Books in a Month
Thursday Jul 02, 2020
Thursday Jul 02, 2020
1. You’re working your brain as you would work any other muscle
2. According to a 2013 study by Rush University Medical Center, the earlier you start reading reduces the ability to develop the plaques, lesions, and tau-protein tangles found in the brains of people with dementia.
3. You’ll increase your ability to prioritize your time.
4. It’s an impressive achievement and goal when speaking to the person interviewing you for a job you’ve applied for.
5. Others will be inspired to read one book as you’ve completed your twentieth.
6. You’ll become a faster reader.
7. You’ll know how to overcome a future obstacle, even if you can’t pin-point the source of what you read.
8. Others will think you’re smart.
9. You’re in elite company. The average number of books read by readers is twelve which the Pew Research Center suggests it’s closer to four books a year.
10. You’ll increase your confidence because you’ve done something most people haven’t. As they talk about reading 20 books in a year, you can encourage them that they can do it since you did it in a month.

Ten Tips to Read Twenty Books in a Month
Wednesday Jul 01, 2020
Wednesday Jul 01, 2020
1. Accept it’s going to be hard.
2. Believe you can read twenty books in a month.
3. Commit to reading between one and two hours a day, six days a week.
4. Read non-fiction books related to your experience, or something new you want to commit to, or self-improvement.
5. Read books under 250 pages.
6. Of the twenty books, read four or five shorter books (like filler songs on a killer CD).
7. Read at the time of day you are most alert (beginning of the day or end of the day for most people).
8. Read when stimulated. For example, drink a cup of caffeinated coffee, smoke a cigar, after taking a cold shower, if you have prescribed ADHD medication.
9. Take hand-written notes as you read. Anything that jumps out to you WRITE IT DOWN.
10. Talk about it. Share your experience with others. As you receive their feedback you’ll be encouraged like never before.

Is It Time to Pivot?
Tuesday Jun 30, 2020
Tuesday Jun 30, 2020
Isn't it interesting that when we pray for change, and it comes, we look back to what we once had favorably, even though what we once had is what we prayed to get out of!
:)
Changes are here, is it time for you to pivot? Or are you wishing for what you once had?
There are so many lessons to learn from The Great Reset. The first lesson is to be content with what you have, the second lesson is to have courage, which leads to faith, in your abilities to make a pivot.
Let's do it together shall we?

"I Understand and Disagree"
Monday Jun 29, 2020
Monday Jun 29, 2020
"You need to start listening" is the rally cry in today's society. What I've found amongst this rally cry is when someone disagrees with another person the other person claims they were never listening in the first place.
We must ALL LISTEN. We would be advised to ALL UNDERSTAND. What we are not required to do is ALL AGREE.

Balanced Life of An Entrepreneur: Community
Friday Jun 26, 2020
Friday Jun 26, 2020
In the final episode of the Living a Balanced Life of an Entrepreneur series, we discuss the value of being involved in a community. Community is a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common. Because of the shared interests with those in your community, being in a community can have benefits to your physical and mental health.
Some of the communities you can be involved in are:
Local Church
Extended Family
Local Clubs
Recreational sports team
Mastermind Group
Monthly Networking Group
One of the greatest benefits of being a part of a community is the feeling of being a part of something. A part of something where you are a part of the pact. Connected to more than just one to two people. According to Psychology Today, having a sense of belonging to a greater community improves your motivation, health, and happiness. All crucial to living life as a balanced entrepreneur.

Balanced Life of An Entrepreneur: Volunteering
Thursday Jun 25, 2020
Thursday Jun 25, 2020
Volunteering is an important attribute in living a balanced life as an entrepreneur. When I reference volunteering, I'm meaning assisting an already established organization and not starting your own project. You can start your own service, I would just put that in the Side-Hustle/Hobby category.
Here are some benefits to volunteering:
Connects you to others
Good for your mind and body
Can advance your career
Ways you can volunteer:
Local School
Senior Center
Hospital
Youth Sports
Tutor a Student
Serve Meals
Community Board
Church

Balanced Life of An Entrepreneur: Side-Hustle/Hobby
Wednesday Jun 24, 2020
Wednesday Jun 24, 2020
I first heard the term “side-hustle” in April of 2018. I’d always had what I called side projects, so when someone said, “that’s your side-hustle,” it made total sense. I’ve talked about side-hustles a few times on this micro-podcast and now I want to share why it’s important to have a side-hustle (or hobby) as an entrepreneur.
The life of a balanced entrepreneur has four attributes, vocation, side-hustle/hobby, volunteering, and community. Where the side-hustle/hobby comes into play is relating to meaningful work with what you are passionate about. Your side-hustle/hobby should never be something you’re not passionate about. In other words, don’t do a side-hustle just for the money.
My wife Lindsay has a side-hustle with Melaleuca. She loves the products and has an opportunity to make extra money. She’s passionate about ensuring our family lives in a safe environment.

Balanced Life of An Entrepreneur - Vocation
Tuesday Jun 23, 2020
Tuesday Jun 23, 2020
The four attributes of having a balanced life of an entrepreneur are: Vocation, Side-Hustle/Hobby, Volunteering, and Community. Today our focus is on vocation.
The definition of vocation is a strong feeling of suitability for a particular career or occupation. Other definitions are, a person’s employment or main occupation; a trade or profession. I’m not using the word, “vocation” in the religious sense where it is your calling. For the sake of this belief system, vocation is your primary source of revenue.
With the advancement of technology, there has never been an easier time to be an entrepreneur. Previously, in order to be considered an entrepreneur, you had to have a business and responsible for more of the financial risk. That’s not necessarily true in today’s society. You can have a "day job" and work your side-hustle. That makes you an entrepreneur.
Your vocation is where you receive a consistent source of revenue.
Creativity is the most important asset you have as an entrepreneur. Did you know stressing over finances reduces your creativity? Instead of quitting your day job, stick with it until your side-hustle becomes your day job.
