Creating a Path
Monday Feb 03, 2020
Monday Feb 03, 2020
In the book Raising a Modern Day Knight, author Robert Lewis writes about the importance of ceremony with our sons. Most of what he wrote can also be applied to our daughters.
There was a step-by-step pat for medieval knights, clearly outlined on their path to manhood.
Starting at age 7 or 8, they became a Page and removed from their mother's care to live in the castle.
At age 14, they became a Squire, serving knights by carrying their sward, waking the knights up, and helping him get dressed.
At age 21, they were eligible for knighthood which included a ceremony with a night-long vigil, ceremonial bath and dubbing.
This allowed young men the ability to visualize their path to knighthood.
What I find lacking in today's word is the lack of path to adulthood for our children.
This book is a great teacher of how we can implement this type of structure to our children and family.

Stay Committed to your Good Intentions
Friday Jan 31, 2020
Friday Jan 31, 2020
How often do you set out to accomplish good things in your life that require discipline? For me it’s Keto and my online coaching program. Sometimes the sacrifice sparks family and friends to encourage us to not follow through with our commitment which can cause temptations in our life. Eating right and turning down social events is harder when others want you to join. Although tempting, stay true to your initial thought and commit to your good intentions.

The Delicate Balance of Self Promotion
Thursday Jan 23, 2020
Thursday Jan 23, 2020
In the book, Top Performance, author Zig Ziglar points out the importance of self-promotion. He writes that 83% of fired executives shared one common trait: Not calling attention to their abilities.
Self-promotion has to be done the right way, and that way is for the benefit of others.
The Brand You coaching program I've created shows you how to increase your self-belief so you can share your expertise for the benefit of others.
Here are some ways Zig Ziglar shares of how to bring attention to yourself while focusing on the benefit of others:
Complement colleagues
Praise subordinates
Circulate memos
and more...

Do What You Say
Wednesday Jan 22, 2020
Wednesday Jan 22, 2020
How often does someone tell you, "yeah, I'm in! Send me the paperwork and I'll get it signed right away."
Then you never hear from them.
You've been ghosted.
How often do you tell yourself, "yeah, I'm in! I'm going to get up earlier or I'm going to eat better or I'm going to start working out."
And you never do any of those things.
You've ghosted yourself.
In all that we do, we must be people of our word. If we say something we must do everything in our power to follow through.
Either that or stop talking already.
